Our Diocesan Spring Council was held on Thursday 25 April in Carnmoney Parish Church. The first half of the evening was spent listening to updates from our Diocesan President and Unit Coordinators.  After a very welcome tea break, Sally introduced our guest speaker, Sarah, Manager at Ballymena Women’s Aid Refuge.

Sarah spoke to us about her work in the refuge and shared some challenging stories and statistics.  She made reference to the Mothers’ Union RISE UP campaign, Respond, Inform, Support, Empower, Unite and Pray and encouraged us to keep praying for an end to gender-based violence whilst assuring us that all our hard work and support for Women’s Aid is very important and much appreciated by all the women who receive the many donations made by Mothers’ Union branches in Connor.

We also were delighted to present 2 Chromebooks to Heather, Project Manager at Women’s Aid, Belfast at our Diocesan Spring Council. The Chromebooks will be given to women who are trafficked to Northern Ireland to support them to continue or further their studies.  This project has been funded from the initial All Ireland seed funding and also the proceeds of the Mid Connor Prayer breakfast.

A further date is to be arranged in early May for a visit to Women’s Aid Causeway & Mid Ulster to present the last 7 starter kits.

Further details of these 2 projects can be found by clicking on the link below.
